Katie graduated with distinction from the University of Kansas in 2002. She obtained her Juris Doctorate degree from the KU School of Law in 2005. She focuses her practice on complex divorce matters, as well as drafting and litigating premarital and postnuptial agreements. Katie also represents clients in business disputes. She is the Past President of the Johnson County Bar Association, Barrister in the Johnson County Family Law American Inn of Court, and represents Johnson County on the Kansas Bar Association Board of Governors.  Katie has been appointed Special Master regarding discovery issues and has presented continuing legal education seminars on several topics, including jurisdiction, discovery, and understanding financial statements in complex divorce matters. Katie co-authored the 2016 Supplement on Property Division and Maintenance in the Kansas Bar Association’s Practitioner’s Guide to Kansas Family Law. She is a frequent author of the Family Law chapter of the Kansas Annual Survey of the Law. She was selected as a Best of the Bar honoree by the Kansas City Business Journal. In 2020, lawyers of the Third Congressional District elected Katie to the Kansas Supreme Court Nominating Commission. Her most significant accomplishment is managing her three “energetic” young children, their various sports and activities, and serving as PTO President of their elementary school.
